The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University is dedicated to educating the next generation of global leaders in the IT industry with the best software development capabilities.

The department offers undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degree programs to achieve this goal. Established in 1982 as the Department of Information Engineering, it has become the flagship department of Sungkyunkwan University's College of Computing and Informatics, and operates strong research groups based on outstanding professors in the areas of systems/networks, artificial intelligence, and computer engineering/theory to promote research and education at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

The department not only provides students with specialized knowledge through the computer science curriculum but also strives to help them become next-generation leaders with problem-solving capabilities in the real world through practical industry-academic cooperation projects and cross-disciplinary applied research. Additionally, the department offers customized research education programs, such as a 5.5-year integrated bachelor's/master's program and a 7-year integrated bachelor's/master's/doctoral program, tailored to the individual characteristics and excellence of each student. Moreover, the department focuses on cultivating warm-hearted talents who respect people by communicating and considering each other based on the school's motto "IN-UI-YE-JI".
